Is that time of the year again when we celebrate the birth of our beloved Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. on the 12th of Rabi-ul-awal, which falls on a blessed Friday this year 1439H.

Muslims all over the world celebrate this auspicious occasion by having maulid at home, schools and in the mosques. We send salawat on the Prophet s.a.w to acknowledge the great blessing that Allah has given us by sending the Messenger to us. Just as prayer is a manifestation of our love, gratitude and obedience to Allah, sending salawat on the Prophet s.a.w. shows our love, respect and our obedience to our beloved Prophet.

Ther are many verses from the Quran and narrations from the Hadith on the benefits of salawat.

“Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet. O you who believe! Send blessings upon him and ask (Allah to grant him) peace.”         (Al Ahzab 33:56)

Ibn Mas’ood (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah s.a.w. said: “The people who will be nearest to me on the Day of Resurrection will be those who supplicate Allah more often for me.”  At-Tirmizi
