I’m Learning About Eid-ul-Fitr

eidulfitr

Farah and Faisal were very excited. They were looking forward to celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr after a month-long of fasting in Ramadan.

After maghrib prayers, their family went to a park where the sky was clear. Many families had gathered there to see the new moon. Everyone was thrilled to see a very thin crescent moon in the night sky. “Eid Mubarak, Have a happy and Blessed Eid!”, they greeted each other.

This book tells the story of two young children living in London, and how they celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr.  They visited the mosque at Regent’s Park on the morning of Eid and paid zakat fitrah. After the Eid prayers, they met many friends dressed in their best clothes. They embraced one another with the greeting “Eid Mubarak!” Outside the mosque, there were stalls selling food and drinks and everyone was in the mood of celebration. They even stopped by to enjoy carnival rides at a park.

Back at home that afternoon, their father explained to them that Eid-ul-Fitr is a day to remember and glorify Allah and thank Him for all the blessings that He has bestowed upon them. Allahu Akbar!

Learning points :

Throughout the book, the author has inserted simple daily duas, such as “Dua after a meal” and “Dua for parents”,  that children can learn to memorise and practise in their daily lives.
